Le général de division David Stewart CB FRSE FLS FSA (Écossais) (1er juin 1772 à Garth Castle, Perthshire - 1829 à Sainte-Lucie) était un soldat écossais et plus tard auteur et antiquaire, dont le livre, Sketches of the Character, Manners, and Present State des Highlanders d'Écosse, publié en deux volumes par Archibald Constable and Co à Édimbourg en 1822, était en grande partie responsable de la création de l'image moderne du Highlander, des clans et des régiments écossais et est considéré comme le fondement de tous les travaux sur les montagnards, les clans et le système de régiments écossais.
Il est souvent appelé Athollman.

Major General David Stewart CB FRSE FLS FSA (Scottish) (June 1, 1772 at Garth Castle, Perthshire - 1829 in Saint Lucia) was a Scottish soldier and later author and antiquarian, whose book, Sketches of the Character, Manners , and Present State of the Scottish Highlanders [1] [2] published in two volumes by Archibald Constable and Co in Edinburgh in 1822, was largely responsible for the creation of the modern image of the Highlander, clans and regiments Scottish and is considered the foundation of all work on mountaineers, clans and the Scottish regiment system.
